Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Used to be a part of the Department of Oral Pathology, which was responsible for various disciplines including Oral Pathology, Diagnostics, Dental Radiology and Oral Surgery. The number of course contents and credits were prepared for the Bachelor of Science degree in Dentistry. Later in 2526, the program was changed to the Bachelor of Dentistry program, therefore, the course contents and credits were expanded, but the department name was still the Department of Oral Pathology. During 2527-2532, there was a project to establish the Department of Oral Diagnosis and it was separated from the Oral Surgery Department. In 2533, the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was established to teach Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which is the main international dental department. Currently, the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery There are 12 professors in total, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saowalak Limmonthon as the head of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department.

Progress-Pride

  1. Established two post-graduate programs: a Higher Graduate Diploma in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Residency Training Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to support and promote education and produce dentists who are specialists in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
  2. Providing dental screening, planning and treatment services to patients preparing for heart surgery from the Queen Sirikit Heart Center, Northeast, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, including being a part of the Tawanchai Project to provide cleft lip and palate surgery services at the Dental Hospital, Faculty of Dentistry, Srinagarind Hospital, Khon Kaen University and Saraphisitprasong Hospital, Ubon Ratchathani Province. In addition, we provide surgery services for oral cancer patients and patients with severe jaw and facial injuries in collaboration with Loei Hospital, Loei Province and Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital, Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
  3. Established the Laser in Dentistry Research Group (LDRG) to enhance new knowledge, develop teaching and treatment of patients with various types of lasers effectively.
