The Faculty of Dentistry, Khon Kaen University Dental Hospital was officially established by the announcement in the Government Gazette on May 14, 2522. It is the fourth dental institution in Thailand and the first in the Northeast. Its main missions are (4) to produce dentists to solve dental public health problems for people in the Northeast through the Bachelor of Dentistry Program, the Graduate School Program, and the training of specialized dentists; (1) to develop research to integrate knowledge and innovation; and (2) to provide medical care and academic services to respond to solving oral health problems holistically. It is an agency under the Faculty of Dentistry. It was initially established as a “Dental Hospital Establishment Project” in 3. Later, it was approved by the Khon Kaen University Council to establish a “Dental Hospital” on September 2540, 6. It has received the hospital code number 2547 in the category of specialized dental hospital from the Ministry of Public Health. In 15270, it passed the assessment to register as a tertiary hospital in the area of the National Health Security Office, Zone 2560, Khon Kaen.
We have expertise in providing comprehensive dental services, including advanced dental services, covering both outpatients and inpatients. Our main services can be divided according to the patient service format as follows:
(1) Student Clinic to support teaching of clinical practice and clinical research for undergraduate and graduate students.
(2) Faculty/Special Clinic provides general and specialized dental treatment services by faculty and dentists at the hospital, including part-time dentists, both during and outside of office hours.
(3) Dental Clinics and Centers of Excellence: Currently, there are 6 clinics and 1 center, namely:
- Clinic of Excellence: Orofacial Pain Clinic: Trigeminal Neuralgia and Temporomandibular Disorders
- Oral Cancer and Reconstruction Clinic
- Dental Implant Clinic: Excellence in Caring for Ethnodular Patients
- Clinic of Excellence in Care for Patients with Eye Loss (Maxillofacial Prosthodontics Clinic)
- Geriatric and Special Needs Dentistry Clinic
- Lasers in Dentistry Clinic
- Cleft Lip and Craniofacial Deformities Center
The Faculty of Dentistry's Dental Hospital divides patients into 3 groups:
1. Student Clinic patients' needs and expectations are: services that are easily accessible, convenient, fast, high-quality, and safe.
2. Faculty/Special Clinic patients have needs and expectations that, in addition to quality and safe services, they must have easy access, be convenient, and fast, comparable to private health care facilities.
3. Patients with critical illnesses, which are a group of patients with complex illnesses, require multidisciplinary care and are at high risk. This group of patients has needs and expectations for services that are easily accessible, convenient, fast, high-quality, and safe, and receive comprehensive treatment rights coordination.
Providing advanced dental services in conjunction with producing graduates and creating dental health research and innovations, including treatment, prevention, promotion and rehabilitation, covering patient groups of all ages, all treatment rights, in both outpatient and inpatient forms, including elderly patients with complex diseases, patients with special needs, patients with systemic diseases requiring dental treatment, patients with abnormalities, disabilities, injuries or pathologies of the jaw and face bones, and oral cancer patients.
