CHOUN LINA

It was my first time at the Faculty of Dentistry of Khon Kaen University as an exchange program student. It was a great opportunity for me that I could join in this program for 2 weeks. During those two weeks, I could learn a lots in both knowledge and life’s experience and I got to know many new people that I had never expected. Those 2 weeks was quite short for me but it was a memorable moment in life that I will  never forget.

First day in KKU was an orientation day which is oriented by Dr.Teekayu Plangkoon Jorns. He introduced the history of the university and department of dentistry in brief. Ultimately, he guided us to know each dental clinic in the university.

From clinical observation, I got many new experiences from it especially the new practical technique in the clinic which I had never known. It was very impressive to see many things that are different from my school such as, students were working in x-ray clinic and they were translating the film. When I was in x-ray clinic, I had a chance to see a CBCT machine which I had never seen and I could see how it show on the computer. At that time, the supervisor also taught me how to read the film in sequence as well. There are many clinics that I interested such as, Pediatric clinic, Pain clinic, Orthodontic clinic, Prosthodontic clinic, Xray clinic and Restorative clinic. It was very pleasing that all clinics are separated which is completely different from my clinic that I study. Moreover, the most interesting clinic for me are Pain clinic and Pedo clinic because I could learn a lot from there. The supervisors in those clinics showed me the history of the patient and they asked some questions. Moreover, they explained me about the disease and how to treat those diseases as well. Additionally, I had a chance to work as an assistant and I could observe on how they treat the patient.

By the end of this exchange program, it was not only knowledge that I get, I also gained my life’s experience by having many gorgeous Thai friends which is my first time that I have foreigner friends. We could share some experiences and had fun together. They are so kind with our team. Furthermore, I could practice my speaking skill in English and Thai language with Thai students.

Finally, I would like to say Thank You to all supervisors in each clinic for teaching, explaining and their warm welcome during the observation time. Furthermore, I would like to say Thanks to Ms. Chutikarn Pholsalsai and really appreciate her kindness that she took care all of us during those 2 weeks in Khon Kaen. Moreover, I want to say Thanks to all Thai students that took care us and accompanied us every day. I hope to have a chance to go back to Khon Kaen University again in one day. It’s very peaceful place and the best place for education.
